Paper Cupcake – Bling

blingcupcakescopy

This week over at Paper Cupcake, we were asked to bling up our cards. We all had to work with the same image.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to participate as my printer decided it didn’t want to print! Took me a good part of the weekend to get it working with my laptop and it still isn’t printing wireless! ugh

I decided to do a little cutting out of the box with the image. Used copics and prismacolor pencils/odorless mineral spirits to color the image. I bling’d my card by using silver stickles for the icing of the cupcakes, blue stickles on the eyes, yellow stickles on the flower middles, silver gel pen on the Spellbinders scallop circles and silverish bling embellishment on the side. My layout is from SCS’s sketch challenge and is #175.

I might be MIA the rest of this week as I will be busy making 225 cupcakes for a wedding on Saturday! Needless to say I don’t know how much time I’ll have to make some cards or if I do, they are going to be clean and simple! lol

Paper Cupcake - sketch

MossBirdHOuseajhcopy

This week over at Paper Cupcake we have a sketch for you.

Melanie Newby brings use this weeks challenge. She would like you to use "ANY acquired PAPER CUPCAKE'S" image and use the below sketch. You can stretch it, rotate it, reverse it etc as long as the original sketch can still be seen.

MelanieNewby816

I used Paper Cupcake’s digital image Mossed Topped Birdhouse. Used prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Where the moss is on the birdhouse, I used Flower Soft. Layered image on a scallop rectangle Spellbinder. For my background, I cuttlebug’d a ColorCore Cardstock and sanded it to show the color underneath. Used Martha Stewart punch for my strips and added brads to them. (I realized after it was all put together that my strips were not in the same places as the sketch. oops!)MossBirdHOuseajhcopy

Come play along with us at Paper Cupcake for a chance to win a prize. Nina has a freebie you can use for the sketch if you don’t own any Paper Cupcake images yet.

Paper Cupcake – Follow the recipe

floralboatajh

This week at Paper Cupcake we were given a recipe by Nilla to follow for our card:

1 ribbon
2 embellishments (rhinestones, pearls, brads...)
3 DPs
4 flowers

Whew! I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off considering I was working with a boat image! But I pulled out some DP from DCWV The Cafe Mediterranean matstack and away I created.  I colored my white ribbon with my orange copic to match the boat and paper. Pulled out some orange felt flowers (hope I don’t get points off for “hiding” my flowers some under my image) and some orange gemstones. Colored the image with copics and prismacolor pencils blended with odorless mineral spirits.

Paper Cupcakes – NO Pattern paper

fisghingajhcopy

WHAT???? No pattern paper allowed?? Yikes!!!   But I’m up for a challenge and that is what it is this week over at Paper Cupcakes.

I used cuttlebug bubbles and Scor Buddy (did some faux plaid) for my background. Colored the image with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Added some stickles to the fish’s scales. Used Mudd Puddles’ sand on the bottom. I wanted a water look to it so I filled in the water with crystal effects, even going over top of the sand. Added some Mudd Puddle shells on the side.

Here is a close up of the image so you can see the water/sand. I had colored the “water” a light blue but it doesn’t show at all after adding the crystal effects.

Paper Cupcakes - Punches

HappyBirthdayajhcopy

For today’s Paper Cupcakes challenge, we were asked to use punches along with the freebie image (that you can find at Paper Cupcakes).

I had seen a layout last week that was too cute not to case so I used it as my layout guide. Used the Happy Birthday cuttlebug folder for my top half and two different border punches for the middle section. The image is colored with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits.  Some crystal stickles on the butterflies and pink stickles on the balloon. I had to add googlie eyes to the snail. Scallop circle nestie is on dimensions.

Paper Cupcake Challenge – Flowers…

flowergirlcopy

But not just any flowers… they have to be hand made by you! Check out PCC blog for the rules and to submit your card and to see what you could win.

When I saw this image, Sunday Afternoon, and I fell in love with it. I wanted to go with soft tones so I used prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits to blend. I used DCWV The Linen Closet matstack and river rock cardstock. Martha Stewart  border punch and added pearls. I made my flower using ribbon and added a shimmer brad to the middle of it. You can find the tutorial on how to make the flower here.

I used last week’s Sketch Challenge 293 from SCS for my layout.

I used prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits on the mice. Copics were used on the rest of the image with blender pen and copic for the 'table top’. Bling in the corners. Design paper is from My Mind’s Eye.

Paper Cupcake challenge - Sewing

HappyCupcakeajhcopy

This week we were challenged to have some sewing on our card. We also used the freebie image, Just Ducky, which you too can have and play along with us! Just check out Paper Cupcake’s blog for all the details.

For my Just Ducky card, I used liquid appliqué on the cupcake and attached the ducky over top of itself using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.

Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits were used. Added a little Flower Soft for some grass. My sewing is all around the card. Not sure how hard it is to see but my little metal plate says “Happy”. I left the tag blank for now.

Paper Cupcake challenge – 3 or more dsp

Christmasajhcopy

If you are looking for my Blog Candy post, you can find it Here as it is still going on.

It’s Monday which means it is time for another Paper Cupcake challenge. This week was my week to create the challenge and I went with using 3 (or more) Design Papers in your card.

Saying that… I had the hardest time making my card! LOL  I decided to use Christmas Arrangement image from Paper Cupcakes and design papers Christmas Magic by nancie rowe-janitz (Christmas Carol, Bough of Holly & Yuletide Greetings)

I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. I also colored the balls with yellow and “burgundy” Wet Looks Embossing Markers and embossed them in clear embossing powder.

DSCF9970

Cut image out and distressed the entire image with distress inks. I also added distress inks to the design papers and used a distressing tool on 2 of the design papers. With the striped design paper, I used a Martha Stewart border punch.  Added a Christmas sentiment with an actual stamp and added some green bling up on the side. In the corners I did a little piercing using a stencil from TheCraftersWorkshop.com. (might be hard to see in the picture)

Christmasajhcopy
All in all I really like how my card turned out after having a hard start! Come join us over at Paper Cupcake and make a card using 3 design papers or more… can’t wait to see your creations.

Magical Monday Challenge – Dog Days of Summer

SoakinSunajhcopy

Welcome to my first challenge with the Paper Cupcake Design Team. This is the official start of my time with them and I couldn’t be more excited.   Check out the Paper Cupcake blog for all the info on how to enter the challenge and have a chance at winning a cute prize that is up for grabs too.

Pattie Nelson brings us this weeks challenge. She wanted us to use any acquired Paper Cupcake Image and be inspired by the words "Dog days of Summer".  How true! We had a heat advisory last week for a few days as it felt like it was in the 100s! whew!!

For my card, I am using Gigi on Tube. I just love this image but then again I love my pigs!  I used Grape Soda Smooch on her umbrella and popped it up with glue dots. There is crystal effects on the water. Doesn’t she look cool lounging in her tube with her shades on?

The design paper is from Cosmo Cricket called Snorkel. Even the rub on sentiment, ribbon and the circle adhesive chipboards are from the same line.  Spellbinders Labels One was used to cut out the image and layer.
