Start of Mother's Day cards

Today's Ways to Use it 215 "find ways to use all white cardstock. That's right. Nothing else! Well, of course you can add embellishments and such but if you alter some white embellishments, you get brownie points."

I decided to start on some Mother Day cards so I pulled out My Mom by Treehouse Stamps. I stamped the image in black stazon and watercolored it with regal rose and real red for highlights. Popped up just the flower after I had added some Shimmerz to it. (hard to see in the photo but flower is shimmery) Sponged the edges with pretty in pink, regal rose, real red and a little going gray. Pierced the edges and layered it onto a nestablitie that was also sponged.

On the top part of the card, I stamped the image in versamark and embossed in clear embossing powder. Added ribbon underneath the image layer. Inked up the cuttlebug swiss dot folder with real red ink. (sponged it on as I didn't want a strong red) so that my white cardstock would have some color to it. Used the scallop edge punch on the cuttlebug piece and the Martha Stewart Doily border punch on the card base and on the inside too.

That is one "Mother's Day" card done. And how many more left, I don't know as I'm making them for my friends this year.

Butterfly Kisses

Still playing catch up with my cards that i have managed to make here and there.

Butterfly Kisses by Treehouse. I made this card for a friend who was in the hospital at the time. It also qualified for the Limited Supply209, Sharon (NoTimeToStamp) blog challenge76 of making a spring card and Card Positioning Systems' sketch104. I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots for the butterflies so they are all at different dimensional sizes. Used the butterflies and the flower to make my own background paper (Limited Supply challenge). I thought it turned out springy and cheery and hope it made my friend feel just a little better when she received it.

"Faith"

It has been a while since I've stamped that I wasn't sure I could remember how! I know, you are probably wondering where I have been. Well, I've been right here at home just haven't been stamping! *shock, horror* What is this world coming to when I don't stamp? But it's true! I didn't stamp at all last week. Nope, instead I did the terrible five letter word... CLEAN, all WEEK LONG!!!! (no, I'm not for hire. LOL)

The family has been down with fevers and colds and even though I really needed a break from it all and should have stamped, I cleaned. I even cleaned my stamping area! Infact it was so clean that I was actually inspired to stamp on Sunday and do the Featured Stamper!

I cased this card of Jami's. Changing the colors, images and the embellishments. Have I mentioned how much I love Treehouse Stamps newest set "Count your Blessings"? I stamped the cross in chocolate chip and then sponged some bravo burgundy around it. Jami did cracked glass on her image and since it is such a fun technique, I had to do it too. Covering the image with clear embossing powder a few times and freezing it. Well my image was hardening in the freezer, I finished the rest of my card.

Love my design paper? I got it for FREE! Yes, I said, FREE and so can YOU!! Because my design paper is actually WALLPAPER!! So how can you get your free design paper? Just go to any paint store and ask for discontinued wallpaper books that you could have. I know, it takes guts to go in and ask a question like that and sometimes you get a wierd stare but it is worth it in the end! So anyways, I decided to pull out my wallpaper books and find a piece that would go with the image.

I ran one piece through the cuttlebug and stamped "Faith" on the other piece. I stamped in distress ink so it did take a little longer to dry. I used jumbo square brads and a piece of gathered ribbon to finish off the card. Now to get the image out of the freezer and crack it.

After cracking it, I rubbed distress ink on it to vintage it up. The brown layer there with the image is another piece of wallpaper!

Count Your Butterfly Kisses!

Treehouse Stamps is releasing some new rubbah this Friday and I have some sneaks to share with you! I think these are my favorite sets so far from Treehouse! First we have

Butterfly kisses

I loved the colors Emily picked for the Color Challenge 205, (pink pirouette/pretty in pink, perfect plum, kiwi kiss/old olive) this week over on SCS. So springie like that I just had to use Butterfly Kisses! I even used the layout from this weeks CPS sketch102.

I stamped the butterfly in perfect plum twice. Cut both butterflies out and then layered them by gluing only their bodies together. I used Helmar's Premium Craft Glue. I then took Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots and added different amounts to the wings to give them dimension. Using the three little butterflies, I stamped all over the white in pink and sponged on more pink around the edges. Sentiment is stamped in old olive and a little star burst is stamped on the old olive cardstock. I used Martha Stewart's doily punch on the pink cardstock.

This set has another big butterfly and a few small ones plus some more sayings. Like I said... I'm loving this set!

Count Your...

For sketch challenge 215 on SCS I used the second set being released from Treehouse Stamps, Count your blessings. Since I still had the colors sitting out from the color challenge, I just used them. I thought the Basic Grey dsp went perfectly with the colors. A little sponging around the cross in pretty in pink and old olive. Rounded the corners with the small corner round punch and added the 'corner' stamp that is in the set.

The Basic Grey paper and Cuttlebug folder can be found at Treehouse Stamps. Count Your Blessings has another cross and more sentiments in the set. Did I mention I'm loving this set too?

2 Cards in one post!

eSorry I haven't been around for awhile. Kids have been home since Thursday!!! Snow days on both Thursday and Friday and then today is Martin Luther King day. Kids are happy for the 5 day weekend but mom is ready for them to go back to school so she can stamp!! Well I can stamp but it takes me all day to make a card since the little munchkins think they need to eat all day long and only mom can fix their food!

So here are a few cards that I got to make at the end of last week but didn't get a chance to post.

Limited Supply 203 was to make a non-cheesy Valentine that you could replicate 30 times if needed for your kids valentines, limited layers/embellishments, limit hand cutting. With using ONLY Kraft, black, red, pink and white as the colors! It didn't have to be a kid image but that's what I went with.

I used this sweet Dragon Flower image that I got from through Treehouse Stamps (Yes, Ashley now sells other products besides Treehouse images! If you haven't been there lately, I urge you to go check her out.) I also used my new (72) Prismacolor Pencils that I had won off of ebay.

I stamped him on Kraft cardstock and then colored him in with different shades of pinks/reds. I didn't use anything to blend the colors but the pencils themselves this time. I made a faux layer of black around him by using a black marker on the Kraft cardstock. I just happen to have an extra piece of black that I had used in the nestablitie for another card that I didn't use so I used it here. The red piece was cuttlebuged with the heart folder (also found at Treehouse Stamps).

For the sentiment, I used JustRite's Brayton Font. I also combined this with the week's before Featured Stamper 100.... JulieHRR!! I cased this card of hers but changed a few things obviously.

Card #2 PB Teen Inspired IC163

If you follow my blog faithfully, you will notice I don't usually do the Inspiration that is held on Saturday's on SCS. For some reason I just can't wrap my brain around the inspiration pieces but am vowing to try them once in a while.

During the week sometime my oldest sent me a link to PB Teen stating which bedroom sets, etc she would like (keep dreaming kid!). I thought the site would make a great Inspiration so I sent it on to Stef. Imagine my surprise when she pm'd me back and said that it was the same link that she had been looking at and thought it would make a great inspiration and was planning on using it this past weekend! Guess great minds think alike! lol

I went with this room for my inspiration as I had this fabulous pok-a-dotted dsp I knew I could use. I used "Live Life Passionately" from Treehouse Stamps as my main focal point. Stamped in black and then distressed with blue inks. Green ribbon ( the other set of sheets) added to give a little contrast and some blue buttons added with glue dots. My layout comes from Taylor's cupcake blog sketch.

Owl always love you!

Was able to squeeze in the color challenge today with a quick card using sketch 203 as I never got to that sketch when it was posted. The color challenge was black, sahara sand and vanilla. I decided to use the set "Owlentine" from Treehouse Stamps. They are watercolored lightly with Sahara Sand and the scarf is paper pieced with black cardstock. I decided to distress all the layers and distress the main image with Sahara Sand and Black ink. The sentiment comes with the set.

Like I said, a real quick card as I was busy getting ready for demo camp as we were having our Christmas exchange! It had to be a 3-D project and under $5.00 at least. What I made and what I recieved will be posted shortly.

Wise Men Still Seek Him

I loved the Sketch Challenge 202 over at SCS today. Well actually I love all the sketches Rox finds. Did you know you can go to this thread and print out all 202 sketches to have right at your finger tips?? LOVE IT!!

For today I pulled out Treehouse Stamps "Wise Men Still Seek Him" set as I was in the mood for a Christmas card. (only days left.. do you have your cards started??) I also used Ashley's color challenge for this week of Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and white/vanilla. I watercolored the image with the Baja Breeze and Old Olive ( I have yet to get Kiwi Kiss ink!!). Added a little yellow for the star and some Creamy Caramel for the road. Added stickles to the star and the candle just for a little shimmer.

The distresser tool was calling my name pretty loudly as I've been neglecting it so I pulled it out and went to town. The squares are 1 3/8 and 1 1/4, faux stitching with white gel pen done on all three with the sentiment going on the last square. I added some black Rhinestones to the corners of the main image. The "star" design paper is Ski Slope from the SU mini catalog.

Snowman Wishes

I know.. some of us don't want to even think of SNOW yet! Especially after the beautiful 60 degree weekend we just had. But I never shared the card I did for Sketch Challenge 200 on SCS and I'm afraid it's just a little cold. So go bundle up and grab a cup of cocoa and enjoy my card.

This sketch is #200! Can't believe we are on #200 already. Seems like just yesterday they had started the sketch challenge on SCS. I really like the sketch that Rox picked but am not that crazy about my card. lol Don't you hate that? Spend all the time on a card only to have it turn out not how you invisioned it. So be gentle with me... maybe it will grow on me in time. (personally I think it is the colors as I also combined the color challenge 190 with it.) I made my card a tall long card.

I used Jolly Snowman from Treehouse Stamps and stamped him on Shimmery White. Using inks, I watercolored him with Pixie Pink, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie. A little bit of close to cocoa was used for his arms. I then used my scallop square punch and layered the snowmen on. I happened to have a piece of Kiwi Kiss (I still don't own the ink) cardstock already cuttlebugged with snowflakes that I decided to use for the top of the card. I used my Pixie Pink marker and ran it along the top and bottom edges of my ribbon. Stamped the saying at the bottom of the card with Black.

Merry Christmas Ranch

I asked a dear friend if she wanted to buy any Christmas cards from me this year. She jumped at the chance and told me what she was looking for: Outdoorsie or horsie Christmas cards. I sent her one idea but still wanted to try another idea with a horse stamp that my mom has.

Last week's Limited Supply gave me the oppurtunity to make the card even though I should have been packing as we went away for the weekend! The Limited Supply was to use the color blue somewhere, one piece of design paper (only one side if it was double sided), any stamps but we had to have eyelets/ribbon as our only embellishments. It was okay to leave the ribbon off but we had to have the eyelets!

I stamped the horses and masked them, taking the tree from Lovely as a Tree, i stamped off and off and off. Used the cloud stencil for the sky. Took a versamarker and made 'snow' that is white embossing powder. And of course I had to destress as I wanted that country feel too it! I managed to sneak the eyelets in on the 'ranch' sign: Merry Christmas. The design paper is 2 layer and is blue.

So what do you think? Would you be proud to hand this to your friends and families for Christmas? Now to figure out how much to charge for 25-30 cards.. any tips/ideas??

Sympathy card and RAK request

I know most of you are members of a great group called Splitcaoststampers. We are like one big happy family. Well one of our family members is hurting right now and I am asking if you could find it in your heart to send her a RAK.

Vicky Gould lost her husband early this morning unexpectantly. There is a thread on SCS in the Request a Card forum if you want to leave Vicky a message.

Here is my card that I will be sending to Vicky. I used all Treehouse stamps along with Flannel Plaid and Linen. The Flannel Plaid is once again for the Ways to Use it challenge "Plaids". I used Treehouse Stamps as Vicky is also a design team member along with me. I used Home Grown, the flower was stamped on watercolor paper and watercolored with inks,and Elegant Sentiments. The colors come from Ashley's Brainwave challenge of Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango (I used Pumpkin Pie), Chocolate Chip and Tempting Torquise (which I left off).


I really like how the card turned out and hope it brings Vicky comfort in the days to come. Olivia's First Christmas

I know.. you are asking whooo in the world is Olivia. And that it isn't even close to Christmas yet so how can it be her first??

Let me introduce you to Olivia the owl! She is available from Treehouse Stamps and is already for Chirstmas with her own sayings. I used Ashley's brainwave challenge which was a color challenge: kiwi kiss, chocoalte chip, riding hood red, kraft. I don't own any riding hood red and only have kiwi kiss cardstock, so I used old olive ink and real red cardstock/ink. Layout is for the sketch challenge 185 on SCS.

Pretty basic card. Not much stamping as I was able to run up to mom's and cuttlebug some pieces with two different snowflake folders and an ornament folder. I stamped Olivia on Kraft and watercolored her a little with chocolate chip. Cutout her hair bow and added it with a glue dot. The snowflakes (in white craft ink) are from "Everybody's Favorite" stamp set also from Treehouse Stamps.

Olivia is sitting in her snowcovered nest that is made from the Martha Stewart branch punch. I added white liquid applique to the branches and Olivia to make it look like snow.

3-D Pointsetta card

The featured stamper was posted early Saturday night and since I was still up, I did it! The card I picked can be found here. I changed colors, stamp image and made a faux tag.

The stamps I used are coming soon (like next Friday) from Treehouse Stamps. So here is a sneak peek of "Christmas Favorites". I picked the pointsetta out of the set to use as I love pointsettas. I watercolored it my favorite pointsetta color... Pink! Well actually it is pretty in pink, regal rose and purely pomegranate! When i first saw this pointsetta, paper toile came to mind.

I stamped the pointsetta on the square piece (which I framed in by using a sliver krylon pen) and watercolored it in. Then I stamped the pointsetta three more times and watercolored them. I cut out the first one completely and using Helmar's liquid scrap dots, adhered it to the square piece. The next one I cut out again but this time I cut off the bottom layer of leaves and adhered it. The last pointsetta I cut out but this time i cut off both the bottom layer and the middle layer so I was left with only the top layer of 5 leaves and the middle. Adhered it and added yellow stickles to the middle of the flower. (I know, sounds confusing but it isn't. I have added a close up picture so you can see the dimension)

I left it to dry and went to work on the rest of the card. Stamping Joy (from the same set) all over the purely pomegranate piece and then tore the cardstock and distressed it with the ink. Tore wild wasibi and distressed it with ink too. Stamped Print Pattern in Regal Rose onto Regal Rose. The sentiment Happy Holidays (from the same set still) is stamped in Purely Pomegranate.

Back to the flower.... I used the slot punch on either side and the word window punch for the strips. Very carefully I adhered it to the cardfront as the Stickles are still not dry!! They take forever.

Friends & Lattes

I am forwarning you now, you may want to grab a cup of coffee now because when you are done with this post, you will be wanting a cup! :)

Treehouse Stamps is releasing a set every Friday this month and tonight's release is a coffee set called Friends & Lattes.

This set was perfect for the Limited Supply challenge today which was to make a card using any color of orange and a coffee image! I decided to make a Criss Cross Pocket card. I embossed coffee beans in clear on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then sponged on tons of distress inks. I used a coluzzle to cut out my circles and a corner punch to make the scallop edge. The coffee cup is stamped in distress ink and embossed in clear. After coloring it with Prismacolor pencils, I used distress inks again and went wild! lol For the inside, I only inked up the first part of the sentiment and stamped that, added some doodles and once again distressed with distress inks.


I made this card during the week for the sketch192 and color challenge 182 (Monochromatic). Of course that was also the same time my batteries decided to die! Once again I used the Friends & Lattes set from Treehouse. The coffee cups were masked and embossed in black. The coffee beans and Thanks a Latte were stamped in distress ink. Now the fun part, I distressed each piece with distress ink. Only the main image was stamped on white cardstock (not that you can tell now). Used decorative scissors for the mat.

All this posting about coffee has made me want some. Even though it is after 8:30 pm, I think I will go make some coffee and add a scoop of ice cream to it too! YUMMM

Sketch Challenge 189. Thomas Kinkade stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms (CHF). Combined the color challenge 179 of old olive, elegant eggplant, taken with teal. Watercolored image and then embossed with Iridescent Ice to give a sparkle.

Inspiration challenge 140. I went with the colors for my inspiration. This is sketch #9 from Julee's Anni-VERVE-sary sketches. Totally Witchin' from MFT dressed up for Christmas. Liquid Applique turns the witch hat into a 'santa' hat. Dresses and boots are paper pieced.

Still not...

100% yet. This cold seems to be lingering. I did manage to stamp last week but had no strength afterwards to upload, that's how bad this cold has been. School started today so I was able to stamp early this morning for the sketch challenge and combine it with Ashley's Brainwave challenge. But I had things to do outside of the house this morning so am now only getting the chance to uploading the card. (will upload last weeks cards later on)

Ashley's Brainwave challenge is a color challenge this week: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose. Wendybell's daughter came up with the sketch for this weeks Sketch challenge on SCS.

I used a set coming in early Sept from Treehouse. Stamped the coffee bean in Craft inks and embossed with clear embossing powder for a background. Hard to tell on the coffee cup but it is actually cutout and popped up, the "coffee" is still in the background so to speak as I only cutout the coffee cup. Regal Rose marker was used on the spots with some stickles added. The saucer is colored lightly in Pretty in Pink. White gel pen was used to do all the dots except on the main image circle.

I'm so bad!

Couple of cards that I forgot to post when i did them the beginning of this week! Bad, bad poster I am. 40 lashes with a wet noodle!!

Card for my friends who just had twins. A boy and a girl. Stamped an extra baby and cut it out to adhere to the stork's mouth. Layout is from the sketch challenge this week. This is also for the Ways to use it which was scraps. Stamps are from Treehouse.


MFT sketch for the week. Lots of cuttlebugging going on here. Even cuttlebug'd the bunny and his clothes. Entire image is paper pieced. Cloud stencil used in background. Image is from My Favorite Things.

Off to our county fair tomorrow as Allie, 9, has to model her 4-H outfit. (How I miss those days! Yes, I use to model every summer. Loved it but was always scared to death every time I got up there. I will so want to be hopping up there and strutting down the runway tomorrow!) Guess I had better put my camera in my bag now or I will forget it!! Hopefully I will get some good pictures of her to post.

Hoo-ppy Birthday!!

Oliver Owl is back with a Hoo-ppy Birthday card. Today's Limited Supply was to make a birthday card with limited layers of 4 and ink/paper/ribbon only!! I paper pieced Oliver right down to his little beak! I used Helmar Scrap Dots on his beak and the branches/leaves... which if you look closely you'll notice that the leave moved off the image.. that is why you let the scrap dots DRY before handling!! lol

I made the card a Joy Fold card with the sentiment holding the brown "card" shut. In making the Joy fold card, Oliver also qualifies for last weeks Limited Supply of different folded cards! :)

Darn computers and a couple of cards

I had two cards to share last night but also wanted to watch a movie at the same time. No biggie, just take the laptop with me over to the TV. Yea, right! Stupid thing couldn't even last two seconds on battery before it died on me and didn't have enough power until later last night to boot up! So here are two cards that I made yesterday for yesterdays' different challenges!

First off it was Ashley's BrainWave Challenge yesterday. She went with a sketch. (sorry, no presketch this time, you will have to go by my card) Keywords for SCS are BWC16 if you decide to play along.

I used Creepy Crawly that will be released from Treehouse on August 7th. I colored the hat with Prismacolor pencils and oderless minerals. Had to add some google eyes to the spider. Made my own pattern paper by stamping the spider and the words EEK on the textured orange cardstock. Happy Halloween is just one of the sentiments that comes with the set. The bling is from KaiserCrafts that i managed to get at CHA this past weekend.

Next we have the sketch challenge (SC186) combined with the color challenge (CC176 - River Rock, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla) from SplitcoastStampers. More sneak peeks of Treehouse stamps that will be released on August 7th. Oliver Owl and What a Hoot!

I watercolored Oliver with River Rock ink. Added just a tad bit of Old Olive and Creamy Caramel for the branch/leaves. Sponged Soft Sky on all of the Very Vanilla pieces. Weathered is stamped in River Rock on the Very Vanilla. Added some Vanilla ribbon to the Soft Sky cardstock to finish off the card.

Fish-a-Rific

Here are a couple of cards I made last week that I hadn't had the chance to post.

First up is the card I did for the Sketch challenge. I used the set "American Dream" from Treehouse (remember, from now until July4th use promo code:july4thspecial and get 20% off of this set). I used markers to color the kids, white ink for the stamps that were used in the background and added details with white gel pen.


The second card was for the Limited Supply challenge where we had to use brads only within our image. I used an image and saying that will be released from Treehouse on July 10th. Colored with reinkers, some sponging and made a scallop piece for waves. I used brads in place of the bubbles that are a part of the image.
