Aww Nuts

I haven’t done Beate’s weekend sketch in forever. Liked today’s layout so I decided to do it. I used Our Craft Lounge’s set, Nuts About You.

Colored with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Used atyou Spica black glitter pen on his nose, eye and top of nut. Stamped nuts in versamark on the really rust layer while the wording was stamped in distress walnut ink. Circle nestie was used as was SU’s scallop border punch.

A few days ago I decided to create another Christmas card using Jolly Ornaments also from Our Craft Lounge.

Stamped the ornaments in versamark and embossed with silver. Cut out the middles with an xacto knife and placed paper from the DCWV Christmas Matstack behind them. Embossed the ribbons in clear embossing powder and added faux stitching. Layered onto Bravo burgundy and stamped wording in Bravo Burgundy.

Flourishes in the house!

I finally got some Flourish stamps. Just had to use a few of them for the Limited Supply194 (acrylic stamps only) last Friday. I also added in the Color challenge192 and Ways to use it 192 (watercolor paper). The sketch comes from Beate's blog sketch challenge.

I used Certainly Celery, Not quite Navy and Basic Gray cardstock plus Watercolor cardstock. The flowers were stamped in Basic Gray and then watercolored Not quite Navy and Certainly Celery on for the sky and ground. Pulled out the distressing tool again!

The faux brads are acutally Basic Gray cardstock with cyrstal effects added on top. The cardstock is attached with glue dots.

stamps: Flourished Elements & Summer Botanicals; paper: certainly celery, not quite navy, basic gray, watercolor paper; ink: certainly celery, not quite navy, basic gray; accs: crysatl effects, distressing tool

I haven't forgotten about my blog candy. Should be up by the end of this week. :)

Vintage card

When I first saw the new stamp line by MFT, I wanted to make a Vintage card. This stamp from the new line is perfect for paper toile.

I used distress inks: tattered rose, old paper, vintage photo, peeled paint and dusty concord to color my image and distress all my paper. Even the close to cocoa cardstock was distressed with tattered rose. The tub/flowers was cut out and layered with the flowers being cutout again and layered. It is hard to see but I added some Pearlescent watercolor to the flowers that gives them a shine. For the ribbon, I just dragged it along the tattered rose ink pad.

I used Beate's sketch as my layout. Image and Pearlescent watercolors can be found at My Favorite Things.

stamps: Take a Break by MFT; paper: vanilla, close to cocoa; ink: black stazon, distress inks: tattered rose, vintage photo, old paper, dusty concord, peeled paint; accs: Pearlescent watercolors, dimensions, sponge, cuttlebug, ribbon

close up of the flowers, the flowers in each layer are colored even though it doesn't look like it here.

The earth laughs in flowers

This weeks challenge with my sassy friends was to case one of the newest member's card. That new member is me! They picked out this card that we had to case. I was told i could sit out since it was my card but i decided to play anyways as it was only fair that i did.

Lo 'n behold, my card fits in with the limited supply challenge which is a long tall card and Sharon's (notimetostamp) challenge which is black accents! I even squeaked in the ways to use it challenge which was acrylics. (of course it feels like cheating as the only acrylic i used was my block that my stamp was clinging to but we were told that still counts.)

I just got the new sets for Treehouse Stamps that will be available April 25th so I decided to use one of the sets for the card. I wanted a simple color scheme and not much on my card other than what i had to case. In keeping with the LSC, I omitted some of the layers that is in my orginal card.

I watercolored the flowers with purely pomegranate ink and added some crystal stickles to the middles. Layered them on dotted swiss cuttlebug piece that i had ran off at mom's. Added my three little brads and stamped the wording straight on the card itself instead of making a tag. Card measures 8x4.

I really like the striking look of the colors even if I keep thinking of Cruella Divel! lol

stamp: Home Grown by Treehouse Stamps; ink: black stazon, purely pomegranate; paper: black, white, purely pomegranate; accs: aqua painter, stickles, ribbon, brads, cuttlebug, acrylic block
