If Friends were Flowers….

“Your garden would be full!” and so is this card. Full of challenges that is!  It’s Friday so that means Our Craft Lounge Sketch #14!

I used the sketch (which I flipped) and combined it with the Free For All 13 (Buttons & bows) and also with May’s DD/DDA challenge. For the DD/DDA challenge, Bev challenged us to use buttons but NO BLACK of any kind!   At first I freaked out a little about no black but I guess that is why it’s called a challenge!  I also challenged myself in a way as I’ve never used buttons like this before.

The only stamping on my card is the sentiment which comes from Say it With Flowers by Our Craft Lounge. I love that the set is acrylic as I cut the saying apart to position it the way I wanted it. I stamped it in embossing ink first, then into vintage distress ink, that way i was able to emboss it with clear embossing powder. Cut out the circle with a coluzzle and sponged the edges with distress ink. Added some orange rhinestones above and below saying. Used Spellbinders scallop circle for underneath. Attached with Helmar circle ZapDots to give some dimension.

Using the Top Note die, I cut out both pieces of paper but cut off the edge on the orangish piece. Distressed it with distress inks. When I was on the Helmar DT, we had gotten some ribbon from Creative Impressions, in looking through it, I came across this piece that looks like a vine. *LIGHTBULB came on*  I would make flowers using buttons and the ribbon as the stems!!  Using Helmar Craft & Hobby PVA glue and a toothpick, I very carefully added glue to the ribbon. I added buttons from Fancy Pants using Helmar Gemstone Glue.

Helmar Design Team Blog Hop with Blog Candy!

So my favorite Helmar product that I wish to share with you today is Premium Craft Glue.

Premium Craft Glue bonds to almost all types of fabrics, leathers, balsa and other soft woods, paper, cane, most hand craft materials and more! Excellent for lamp shade making and millinery work. It sets quickly, dries crystal clear and is machine washable.

I can’t tell you how much Premium Craft Glue I have gone through. I love this stuff. (actually I love all the Helmar products but I had to pick just one to highlight for the blog hop…) I’ve used it with my sparkly fluff, flower soft, even to bond paper together (it didn’t wrinkle the paper at all.). So for my project for today, I wanted to try something a little different then the ideas listed above (which you can find on my blog by clicking on Helmar on the right hand side).

I had seen these Lunch Bag Hydrangeas and wanted to try my hand at them. So I pulled out a scallop circle nestie (you can use a scallop circle punch instead if you have one, I don’t), my lunch bags, a pencil, styrofoam balls, Helmar Premium Craft Glue and went to work.

Roll the scallop paper around the pencil.


Attach the paper to the ball using Helmar Premium Craft Glue:


After I was finished with them, I took ColorBox Ocean CHALK ink by ClearSnap and just smooshed it against the hydrangeas to give them some color.

But what to put them in? Well I had these buckets that looked like they would be perfect. Glued a ribbon around the middle, yes, i used Premium Craft Glue. Using Pink Paislee’s Cupid Collection, I glued the two layers together and added vintage brads in the corners.


I then glued the entire label down onto the tin using Helmar’s Premium Craft Glue! Stamped a bird in Chestnut Roan CHALK (Colorbox), cut it out and attached it to the upper corner with 2 clear 1/2” ZapDots (Helmar).

I cased myself and Blog Candy link

The 20th of every month is a challenge for the Dirty Dozen Alumni. Today, Holly was our 'hostess' and challenged us to case ourselves. The only catch was that we had to case one of our oldest uploads to SCS or one from the very first page. I went with this card. (please excuse the lack there of... it was in my early stages of stamping and I have grown so much since then ;) )

I flipped the card to fit the image I was using. Changed colors, stamp, changed one layer to the top note and add bling and ribbon.

The MFT WUW challenge this week was to try your hand at masking. I love to mask and went to town on MFT Presents Sara Williams Funky Flowers set. The flowers were colored with prismacolor pencils that were close to the Color Challenge 210 of Summer Sun, Real Red, Kraft and Black, and blended with odorless mineral spirits. I attached them to the Kraft cardstock with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots.

For the vase, I used Helmar Crackle Medium that is shown below in the picture. When it was dry, I rubbed Real Red into the cracks.
