OCL Sketch Challenge

HappyHappyOrangeBirthdaycopy

Today is a sketch challenge over at The Lounge. I love sketches and the sketch today called out to me:

OCLDT02web-150x150

I also did the new/old challenge on SCS. They changed the Limited Supply to a Free For All. Today’s challenge was to use one color you don’t use much, texture of some sort and optional design paper.

I used Say it Big and Thankful Flourishes, both from Our Craft  Lounge. I picked Orange as my one color I don’t use often. I embossed the flower in black embossing and then watercolored it with spiced marmalade distress ink. I embossed it on watercolor paper too. HappyHappyOrangeBirthdaycopy I used Helmar Gemstone Glue to add seed beads to the middle of the flower for my texture. Stamped “HAPPYHAPPYHAPPY BIRTHDAY” from Say it Big on the white cardstock in the spiced marmalade distress ink.   You can see what a difference there is in using the same ink to stamp with and watercolor with. HappyHappyOrangeBirthdaycopy
I then used a green ink to stamp some leaves directly onto the paper. Attached the flower using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to give it a little dimension.

See that design paper? It’s actually Trick or Treat design paper from eclectic paperie! Yes, I used Halloween paper on this card.

HappyHappyOrangeBirthdaycopy

At first I wasn’t too sure how this was going to turn out using a color I don’t really care for but I’m loving the card!  So if you like the sketch,  head over to The Lounge to read how you can enter and win! I hope to see your name there on Mr.Linky!

Mortyflowerfishingcopy

Time for another Sew Many Cards Blog Hop to introduce you to the New Releases!    Our sponsors this time around are Soft Pencils and Simon Says Stamps.

Hopefully you just came from Patricia’s blog. Or you can start at the beginning at Sew Many Challenge’s blog where the entire list of DT members is also posted for the blog hop.

I get to show you a cute image that is perfect for that fisherman in your life: Morty fishing.  I colored him with copics and did a little dp with the ink pad around just the top part. Layered onto a topnote die cut and then two triangle pieces of Rusty Pickle design paper. Added a pale green ribbon to help tie it all in. Some misc. crocheted flowers in both corners held by Helmar Gemstone Glue (it dries clear).

So how would you like to win Morty? All you have to do is leave me a comment and I will pick a winner when the hop stops on March 4th!

Golfin’ Gramps

GOLFINgrampsajjcopy

Every week on The Lounge, they spotlight a few sets. Last week was my week to show the spotlight sets: Golfin’ Gramps and Nailed It. Today I want to share my Golfin’ Gramps card.

I used design paper from eclectic paperie that reminded me of golfer clothes. Used  copics and prismacolor pencils to color gramps. Scalloped Circles Nestabilities and a photo corner punch were used. Added some piercing to the scallop circle and some glitz green rhinestones to the photo corner. Some misc ribbon ties it all together. Card is 5x5.

I decided to complete the inside with the following sentiment and image.

Here is the Sketch for the challenge:
untitled

A friend of mine just had her sixth child last week (5th boy) so I decided to use Jaden in Baby Carriage to make her a card. Colored image with copics and added some sparkles to the patches with gel pen. Cut him a little out of the circle. I used a coluzzle to make my circles. I used DCWV Nana’s Nursery Baby Boy design paper and green cardstock. Simple piece of matching ribbon to divide up the card layered overtop of a yellow piece punched with a border punch. And Graceful Words “blessings” as my sentiment stamped in green. Both image and sentiment is on dimensions.

Jadensketchajhcopy
Card also qualifies for the Limited Supply260 on SCS. Use of ribbon and trim (border punch).

SMC Challenge #4 Duel Theme

ILoveYOUajhcopy It’s Friday and that means a Sew Many Cards Challenge! It is a Dual Theme…. Make a card with a Valentine Theme and with the colors red, pink and white! Please use Sew Many Cards digital images if you have them and if you don’t, then head on over to the challenge blog to pick up the Friday Freebie image!

Our sponsor this week is TELLENS PLACE, You can check out their blog here. Prize Package is $10 Gift Certificate to Tellen’s Designs

Terry Oulboub is owner and she had this to say: “Tellen’s Place Designs is the home of Tellen Design images. These images are drawn by the owner, Terry’s, son. Terry thought it would be fun for her son to continue these images for her as he had done in 1999, when she first began selling her crafts at various venues. With the digital world becoming such an excited and explosive place with thousands of images to delight everyone’s fancy, it seemed natural to add to that universe.

Tellen’s Place Designs became home to these images for a wide variety of reasons. Having a home to call their own, this opened the door to creativity on so many levels; especially for beginners. Adding card and mini album kits answered many calls to those who wanted to dabble in the scrap world but did not have the time or space to house all of the goods needed to “scrap a world fantastic.”

Tellen’s Place is the beginning, where it all started. It is a place where Tellen Design images come to life through the weekly challenges. We are delighted to share the digital world with others and even more delighted to sponsor Sew Many Challenges, another wonderful place to be. We invite you to visit us at your next opportunity.”

I decided to use Miki with his alphabet blocks this week.  I added cotton candy stickles to the “I” and “you” and Christmas red stickles to the heart.  Cut out the circle with a circle coluzzle and then the scalloped circle with Spellbinders. Image was colored with copics. I even colored the ribbon (it was white) with the same copic as the middle block (R21) and added white dots with white gel pen so it would tie in with the image/scallop circle. I sponged some pink around the circle to add a little bit of a pinkish glow.

Thinking of you (and spring)

ButterflyThinkingofYou

We are on day #4 of the kids being home from school because of the snow. Am I crazy yet? No not really. (Okay, I must be crazy then! lol)

But as I sit here working on Valentine projects (that I can’t show till Friday), I thought I’d share a card I had done for Our Craft Lounge for their CHA release.  I used Nature’s Notes, a lovely butterfly and flower set with Thinking of you sentiment. I colored the butterflies with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. I wanted them to sparkle some so I added some sparkle gel pen to them. They are mounted with Helmar Zapdots so to give the look of flying. Spellbinders scallop circle & Labels One, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Martha Stewart border punch were also used.

Valentine cards galore

ValentineWantedajhcopy
I had an order that I have been working on of 4 Valentine cards for 3 young children and a teenage boy. I finally finished them all up. So please bare with me as I share all 4 cards.

I used Lola Love by Our Craft Lounge for the 7yr old girl’s card. Was told she loves purple and sparkles. I used Try New Technique Challenge 257 side stepping card. I embossed her dress on purple sparkle cardstock. Colored her with copics and added stickles to her hearts and hair bows. LolaValentineajhcopy Be mine has Crystal Effects on it is and is 3d with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots under it. Embossed hearts on the lower step, cutout wording with heart paper pieced in the sparkle purple cardstock, Masked strip of hearts for second step, colored with prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits, added stickles to some of the hearts. Sentiment is from Jungle Love by Our Craft Lounge and was cut out with nesties. Even added sparkle gel pen to the dsp.LolaValentineajhcopy

For the two young boys, I used Jungle Love from Our Craft Lounge. I used Mojo Monday’s Sketch and went with monkey theme from Jungle Love. Used Prismacolored pencils and odorless mineral spirits. Stamped the heart bananas in a row and cut them out completely for the layer. Used cloud stencil with blue ink. Design paper is digital from MFT.

Bananasoveryouajhcopy

For my second card using Jungle Love, I went with the lion in the set. I used this sketch that I found on Jen del Muro’s blog. I did flip the sketch to work better with my image. Used prismacolored pencils with odorless mineral spirits. Little bird is cut out and popped up with Helmar ZapDots. Cloud stencil was used with blue ink and i sponged on green for the ground. Main image is also up on Helmar ZapDots.

NotLionajhcopy
I saved my favorite card for last! The teenage boy Valentine card. At first I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off but Our Craft Lounge made it easy with their Wanted set. I used the SCS sketch266 for my layout. Colored images with copics. Added some sparkle gel pen to the "U" and on the small heart. Entire middle layout is on Helmar Scrap Dots for dimension. Did the Faux Leather (used this tutorial for the Faux Leather) for the background pieces. Tore and distressed around the wanted sign layer as I wanted a burnt look but didn’t feel like actually using real fire for it so I went the faux way. Boots are cut out of the box.
