Teacher gift and link to Helmar Blog Candy

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas. I have enjoyed my ‘time’ off if you can call it that as I had been knitting hats/scarves for Christmas gifts instead of stamping. (and have more to make from those that have seen the gifts and want one now! lol) Here are the Christmas gifts my kids gave their teachers this year.

Remember a few posts ago I mentioned I had finished knitting something at the car dealership but couldn't reveal it? Well now I can. For Benjamin's teacher, Mrs..Jacobs, for Christmas I used the Knifty Kintter and made her a hat and scarf. We found out her favorite colors and this is what I made:

For Allie’s teachers, I made them name frames and tried to use their favorite colors.

I pulled out Stampendous set called School for Changito. It's perfect for any teacher related project and what my daughter picked out to use for her male teacher, Mr.Bair. Using an SU retired alphabet set, I stamped in red on to white cardstock. Used curved rectangle Nestablities to cut out the cardstock. JustRite Brayton Font was used to spell out MR. and Nestabilities Labels One was used to cut it out. Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner was used to attach all the letters and cardstock. I stamped the images right on the cardstock and colored them in with prismacolor pencils and copic markers. I then stamped Changito again, colored him and cut him out. Using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, I attached him over his image to give him some 3-d look without having to worry about trying to cut out his tail.

For Mrs.Dill's name frame, I used the same alphabet set as above but stamped them in blue. I then distressed the edges a little with Tim Holtz vintage distress ink. Used the same Nestablities to cut them out and also the same JustRite Brayton Font for the MRS. I stamped Brocade Motifs on the background cardstock to give it some flair. Added ribbon across the middle before attaching the letters with Helmar Quick Fix Adhesive Runner. Using Helmar Gemstone Glue, I attached brown and white/cream buttons to the letters. I then used SU's Bird w/Leaves Sizzix die cut for two blue birds and some leaves. I attached them using Helmar's newest product, Helmar Zapdots as I wanted some dimension but couldn't have a lot as there would still be glass to put in.

Now you are probably wondering why Mrs.Jacobs didn’t get a name frame for Christmas? It’s because her birthday was at the end of Nov. and I had made it for her then. Here is how her’s turned out:

I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots on the little kids.

Glitter, Knitting and a new car!

So you are probably wonder what all three of those have in common? I ‘wore’ glitter to the dealership and proceeded to knit an entire adult hat while waiting on a new car! LOL Okay, I’ll go back to the beginning of the day…. I had to make hubby cards for his work and had decided to add glitter to them. You know how it is when you work with glitter.. you end up with it all over you. Well hubby wanted to go see about getting a second vehicle for us so we ran down to our favorite dealership, Joseph Airport Toyota, and talked to our favorite rep, James. Now I figured this would take a while (this is not the first time going with hubby to get a car!) and as it is Christmas time, I took my ‘knitting’ with me so I could work on presents. Now I'm not the type that pulls out a craft in any kind of waiting room but I knew I was limited on time so I pulled it out and started knitting. At some point during the evening, James informs me that I have glitter on my face to which i say “i wanted to be festive”. Of course he gave me a hard time about knitting and I gave it right back saying he could knit and sell them in the hallway when he wasn’t busy, etc. I managed to complete an entire hat and finish another project while waiting on him and hubby to get everything settled!

I can’t show you the other project yet that I finished at the dealership as I haven’t given it out yet. In the end we ended up with a reliable vehicle (‘07 Camry) which I'm calling hubby’s Christmas present as he’ll be the one driving it the most.

I decided to use today’s Sketch Challenge259 to make James a Christmas card as hubby had to run back down to the dealership today and we really enjoyed our time last night and how he worked with us to get the best deal possible. I made sure I added LOTS of glitter on it and used an image with snowmen wearing scarves and hats! LOL

Today also marked our last story time of the year for my little one. The hat that I made last night was for our children’s librarian, Bev, that does story time. Bev was so kind to sport the hat for the picture.BevJorden
Here is the card I made for Bev. I used Our Craft Lounge, Tweet Winter Wishes. Added some glitter (yeah, I'm on a glitter kick) and some smooch ink on the mittens and hat. Hat is attached with a (Helmar) ZapDot.

And of course at this time of year, there is always a special visitor for the kids. They each got a ‘present’ (coloring book/crayons) and a candy cane from “Mrs.Claus”.

So there you have it… glitter, knitting and a new car!

Stampers are AMAZING

It’s been awhile since my last post but what can I say? It’s been crazy trying to get ready for Christmas. I have 2 Christmas card orders and my own cards to get done. Gifts for teachers, librarians, bus drivers and choir directors to do all this week before school is out for Christmas. And on top of that I haven’t even started any Christmas shopping! So needless to say, stamping has been put on the back burner for a while except for the above projects (which i will share when i get them all done! lol)

In the mean time I wanted to send out a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that sent cards for the Paula Lowery silent auction basket. We had an overwhelming response of over 300 cards!!! They came from: St.Paris, OH, WA, CT, AZ, OR, UT, MA, WI, IL, PA, CO, FL, MI, CA, TX, MN, Greece, Australia, Canada, Germany

Which as you’ll see below.. was very hard to take a picture of all of them at once!

Here is how we packaged them for the auction:

The benefit supper/auction was a huge success as over 600 tickets were sold! Mom and I volunteered our time to help cook and serve. I of course took my camera along and ended up becoming the photographer when the supper started (which is why you don’t see me in any of the pictures)!  All in all they raised over $20,000 for the family with the baskets playing a small part. One basket went in the silent auction for $50.00 and the other one went in the live auction for $75.00.

Here is a few pictures I took from the supper that I thought you might enjoy seeing.

Once again THANK YOU to all those who sent cards. We wouldn’t have been able to make such great baskets without your help. Stampers are the best!!

It’s beginning to look like Christmas

Here are a few more creations I made using Creative Cuts & More die cuts.

I made this adorable block card a week ago for the IC207 challenge on SCS. The picture wasn’t the greatest then as our weather has been cloudy so I didn’t blog about it right away as I wanted a better picture of the card. (hate when I can’t get a good picture of items I have created.) And then Thanksgiving happened. I’m sorry for being a bad blogger lately, darn Holidays keep getting in the way.

I used Tweet Winter Wishes from Our Craft Lounge along with their Crafty Fluff on some of the images. And embossed snowflakes with Iridescent Ice on the background of some of the panels. Used Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits to blend. The snowman’s hands are popped up and so is the bird skating on the bird bath. The earmuffs/hat/scarf/mittens is also on dimensions.

For my second project, I created this adorable little sleigh, also from Creative Cuts & More. I embossed the poinsettia from Blessed Christmas by Our Daily Bread in gold over the entire sleigh. Added adhesive to the side/middle piece and put it together and there was my sleigh! See how easy that was? Now I have a beautiful festive center piece for my table. (I filled it with Mint Truffle Kisses but am sad to say they didn’t last long!)

Just think of the different ways you could decorate and fill this sleigh. The possibilities are endless.

Well I hope you have enjoyed my creations during my Guest time for Creative Cuts & More. Don’t wonder too far as I could still throw something up using their products. (I cleaned up my area for Thanksgiving and now I can’t find a thing!)

Enjoy the Holiday Season.
