Start of Mother's Day cards

Today's Ways to Use it 215 "find ways to use all white cardstock. That's right. Nothing else! Well, of course you can add embellishments and such but if you alter some white embellishments, you get brownie points."

I decided to start on some Mother Day cards so I pulled out My Mom by Treehouse Stamps. I stamped the image in black stazon and watercolored it with regal rose and real red for highlights. Popped up just the flower after I had added some Shimmerz to it. (hard to see in the photo but flower is shimmery) Sponged the edges with pretty in pink, regal rose, real red and a little going gray. Pierced the edges and layered it onto a nestablitie that was also sponged.

On the top part of the card, I stamped the image in versamark and embossed in clear embossing powder. Added ribbon underneath the image layer. Inked up the cuttlebug swiss dot folder with real red ink. (sponged it on as I didn't want a strong red) so that my white cardstock would have some color to it. Used the scallop edge punch on the cuttlebug piece and the Martha Stewart Doily border punch on the card base and on the inside too.

stamp: My Mom by Treehouse Stamps; paper: white; ink: versamark, black stazon, real red, regal rose, pretty in pink, going gray, old olive; accs: aquapainter, nestabilities, scallop edge punch, ribbon, martha stewart doily border punch, cuttlebug, dimensions, clear embossing powder, shimmerz

That is one "Mother's Day" card done. And how many more left, I don't know as I'm making them for my friends this year.

Robots and Mudd Puddles??

Seems like forever since i've stamped. Have had sick kids all week long. So far I haven't gotten it but am waiting for it. I did end up with shin splints though but that's another story.

I decided to do the Featured Stamper today. Click here to see the card I cased. I changed the colors, images. Cuttlebugged the background instead of stamping it and left off the photo corner.

I attended a Scrapbook Expo a few weeks ago and found this fun texture that I just had to get ... Mudd Puddles! I added it 'under' the Botz boy and his snail to make it look like they were on the beach. (as that is what the Mudd Puddles is. I used one called Diamond Bay that is discontinued.) Really easy to use, just spread it on and let it dry. Takes about an hour to dry to the touch (but i have used my heat gun on it to spead it up and haven't had a problem).

The Botz Family can be found at Our Craft Lounge. I used Prismacolor markers to color the images and add shimmerz to the little boy but it's hard to see.

stamps: The Botz Family - Our Craft Lounge; paper: white, wild wasibi, blue bayou, basic gray; ink: black; accs: ribbon, prismacolor markers, nestabilities, Mudd Puddles, Shimmerz

Thought I'd pass this along to you too:

It's that time again.. Dirty Dozen gallery is open! 2 new gals join the group this month and you won't be disappointed! Not a Fan Cl,ub Member? Well then check out all the info here to see how you can be come a Fan Club Member.

Dirty Card, Who want a Dirty Card??

Guess what? The Dirty Girls have each volunteered to send one of their gallery projects to a Fan Club Member! So that means there will be 12 Dirty cards stimulating the US Postal Service Sales this month and ending up in the hands of a Fan Club Member! Each Dirty girl has chosen one specific project to give away. The good news is all you have to do is leave a comment on that project to be randomly chosen! The bad news is you won't know which project it is so go with your gut (or maybe your favorite project) leave a comment or two or ten and it could be yours! Have fun! Good Luck! Hope its YOUR mailbox filled with Dirt! You have two weeks to comment from the day the gallery is revealed.

Here is a sneak of one of my projects that I had lots of fun working on. Now head on over to the Dirty Dozen Gallery, you won't be disappointed!

Easter Pictures and Cake recipe

Hope everyone had a good Easter. We had a nice time and the kids all stayed healthy (last year I had one kid sick on Good Friday) through the weekend. Of course Benjamin came down with a fever last night so guess who is home today? Guess he wanted that Spring Break day that they were suppose to have before they took it away from us. (We have too many snow days to make up so they took our 2 days of Spring Break away from us so we wouldn't have to go to school until the middle of June.)

I managed to get a few pictures taken yesterday before church in all their Easter finery. Of course the newly teenager didn't want to be in any of the pictures so it's only the three youngest. I am also posting the recipe for the 5 Day Coconut Cake that I had made for Easter Sunday's luncheon. I came home with none of it and a piece would taste good right now too.

Jorden (3)

My handsome little man, Benjamin (6)

Allie (9), who had to have pink somewhere on her!

One of the last pictures taken. Kids were tired of all the shots mom was taking so Jorden grabbed Benjamin and gave him a big smack-a-roo. Love the look on Benjamin's face.

5 Day Coconut Cake

1 pkg (6oz) coconut
1 (16oz) sour cream
2 cups powder sugar
1 box white cake mix
1 (6oz) coconut
1 container of cool-whip (I used a 12oz)

1st day - Mix first 3 ingredients. Let chill in refrigerator for 24 hours.
2nd day - Make the cake and let cool. Slice layers in half and spread mixture inside layers. Put cake together, spreading between layers too. Cover the outside of the cake with the remaining mixture. (I only covered the top with the mixture) Cover and chill cake for 3 days or more.
There is a layer of coconut in the bottom cake, just can't see it from this angle.

5th day - Right before serving spread cool-whip on cake and spread coconut over entire cake. ( I just sprinkled the coconut on top of the cake. Would be great toasted to add some color)
My cake was only in the refrigerator for 2 1/2 days and it was still very moist.

Hint - The longer the cake remains in the refrigerator the more moist and flavorful it becomes. Whipping cream maybe used if desired.

I think the best compliment I got on the cake yesterday was from someone who does not like coconut at all! She loved it. She ate a piece and even licked the cake server clean!

Sorry I've been MIA, seems like I get busy and forget (blush) to upload my projects to my blog! I have a handful to catch up on and hope to do it soon! Thanks for sticking with me even if i don't update regularly.
